TECHNIQUE DRAWING HUMAN FACE

This is the third part for the tutorial how to draw a face that is the technique of drawing human face to finish. What is meant to finish here means changing the shape of the face sketches into a finished shape image that has been shaded dark light. To make basic sketches please revisit the technique of drawing face sketch.

  To change the shape of the sketch into a finished shape image with pencil the way is by shading. Some parts need to be made darker while others are just thin. Therefore please visit also How to shake with graphite pencil To find out more with pencil shading techniques.

Construction of Human Face

The first thing to know in the technique of drawing the face to completion is the construction of the human face shape. Previously already discussed the basic proportion of human face in Technique of drawing face sketch . After making a basic sketch of the proportion of the remaining live shaded by following the form of facial contours. The following is a picture of human face contour construction.

I draw each section in a flat shape to make it easier to understand its construction. After knowing the form of facial construction as above now live shaded dark-light each piece. It is worth considering the direction of coming light  Before shading. Here is an example of facial construction after shading.

The Drawing Order of Human Face

Step 1

Proportional Reference

Step 2

Step 3

The third is finishing. Thickening thick with a thick pencil on the darkest part like eyeballs, and eyebrows. While the other parts stay smoothed only. If you need to darken the thickening of the hatch in that section.

In this technique of drawing human face tutorial I suggest also to try to draw again so that your skills more honed. I also recommend that you use a reference to sense or sense of the face shape is also more mature. Thus later you can just draw a face without reference but the results remain good and look realistic. Here are some more examples that you can try.
